After a storming gig at Tallinn Music Week 2010, Iiris had the festival buzzing after her "especially good performance" (MusikWoche). An artist born to be on stage, wherever Iiris has performed, audiences and critics alike have been left in awe, resulting in highly positive coverage from MTV Iggy, Reykjavik Grapevine, NME, Soundi anf Nutflicks.
Her sound has been compared to greats like Björk, Kate Bush, Regina Spektor and Florence & The Machine, but Iiris remains unique. Her performances veer between aggressively commanding the stage and baring it all from behind the piano, and audiences can’t help but surrender to her talent & beauty.
Debut album "The Magic Gift Box" is out on EMI Music Finland since March 2012.
Friday, 19th October at 18:00 in Ravintola Artturi (Kauppakatu 9, Tampere)
Mari Kalkun is a woman from another world. Probably because we have not stayed long enough in places where Mari Kalkun’s roots are – the Southern Estonian forests of Võru, the distant Baltic Sea shores of Pärnu and islands like Kihnu. And most of us were not around in the 1920s-60s - the eras that Mari channels to us now. Local (and very old school) poets carrying the feeling of rural life, the forests, the landscape – their work has been a big inspiration to her. The flowing sound of Estonian language and its dialects create a meditative atmosphere in her music intertwined with the traditional singing - regilaul - and folkore.
“Her sonic drift sits in the same world as Nico and Bridget St John. Melody was not the point, atmosphere was. Sat with a zither or an accordion, she explained her songs are about the wind, the elements. From the southern edge of Estonia, Kalkun’s lyrics are inspired by mid-20th-century poetry celebrating the landscape and people.” - Kieron Tyler, The Arts Desk (a review from Tallinn Music Week 2011).

Argo Vals is a guitarist and a composer from southern Estonia, who has been recording music since 2006. In spring 2011 his two first singles "Hallitussilmad" ("Mouldy Eyes") and "Oktoober" ("October") were released on a small Estonian record label Eesti Pops. Argo composes for several diverse groups, movies, TV shows and dance performances. He has played his solo shows at numerous festivals. He also played and composed live-electronic music for the formal reception of this year's Anniversary of Estonian Republic and Argo’s atmospheric soundscapes are filled with quiet beauty and a dream-like ambience, his mininalistic solo performance with guitars, loops and efects fills time and space with a serene glimmering aura.
Argo Vals is currently working on his debut solo album, to be released in December 2012.

Gorõ Lana (Boom, Mag, Mf Lef, MoiCirk, Photoindustries) is the bright representative of the Russian-speaking hip-hop in Tallinn, Estonia. The group was formed in 2002 by musicians Mag and Boom. Mf Lef joined the group in 2006, extending the boundaries of the band's creativity, his participation created the symbiosis of the sound of the “golden era” hip-hop with innovative style. In 2008 MoiCirk joined Gorõ Lana and added his ideas and corrections into the band’s sound, which is guided by 90's hip-hop and inspired by the "dusty" sound of that time.
At the moment Gorõ Lana is actively performing at different events, festivals and clubs. The band is also recording new material for their first album which is to be released by the Estonian hip-hop label Legendaarne.

Tallinn Music Week 2012 Skype award winner Talbot is the duo of doom, slowly conquering the world since 2008. With Magnus Andre on bass guitar, synths, vocals and Jarmo Nuutre on drums and vocals, Talbot has created a unique sound of their own – massive, atmospheric and noisy with a topping of heavy psychedelia. They released the "Tundra" EP in 2008 and an album, "EOS", in 2010. "EOS" was later re-released on Slow Burn Records, and received a nomination for the best metal album of 2010 at the Estonian Music Awards. After touring extensively in Japan, Australia, Russia and all over the Europe, Talbot is now working on new material for the next album.
Tallinn Music Week 2013 will take place on 4-6 April. The delegates‘ registration is now open on our website www.tmw.ee. Artists‘ application will be opened from 1st October 2012 until the first week of January 2013.
