Kirtana Rasa will play SPOT FESTIVAL in Denmark today, Thursday, 20th May at Café Hack at midnight

KIRTANA RASA is one of the sweetest success stories that grew out of the first Tallinn Music Week in 2009, where they made an extraordinary impression to any of the international delegates who saw them.

”I have seen Kirtana Rasa perform live twice; at TMW last year and at EuroSonic in 2010. On both occasions I have been convinced of their international quality as an experienced live performer. They are a group that captures any audience with their mesmerizing vocal harmonies and beautiful compositions. As I see it, Kirtana Rasa has what it takes to break the Estonian borders, and we are very pleased to be able to present them at this year’s SPOT Festival” says the artist booker for InterSPOT, Jesper Borup.

“Theirs is a slow-burning fusion of styles influenced by numerous years spent travelling – an approximation of languages, cultures and traditions. Anything but interminable hippie drones, African and Eastern flavours permeate their harmonium and djembe-led set, its highlight a delicate, restrained number sung in French,” said Drowned in Sound in 2009 after seeing them in Tallinn.

Their music is a mixture of southern warmth, eastern philosophies and norhern frost, with influences of classical Indian styles. They arrive on stage with a set of Estonian, African, Indian and Indonesian instruments, they sing in French, Russian and Estonian and they have a mystic aura around them that leaves you struck with amazement of their purely sincere and beautifully hypnotizing performance.

Kirtana Rasa played an amazing Grand Theatre show at EuroSonic this January to a standing ovation and they have been asked back to Holland to

Festival Sunsation in June. Currently they are working on their new record, bound to be fantastic and are up for a record deal and any other ideas you might have.

For tomorrow’s show at SPOT Festival Kirtana Rasa will be accompanied by a young talented visual artist Okeiko, who has worked with the band for years and has created a special visual language for their exotic and delicate musical landscapes.
