Paabel is an idea, an attempt to approach traditional music with an open mind, drawing inspiration from the synergy of the band. The ensemble has five members, of whom four study jazz and one is a student of traditional music. The ensemble was born in the spring of 2007, when the traditional music student Sandra had an idea to participate in the Põlva Folk Music Arrangements Festival. The project with four jazz musicians gained momentum after returning from Põlva with the highest prize awarded. Their music is a strong symbiosis of traditional with impacts from mostly jazz and rock music, born as a joint creation. Many of their pieces intertwine several smaller old instrumental tunes or songs. Their aim is to make the kind of music that they themselves like to listen to and enjoy. Seeing them perform, one is assured that the true pleasure and satisfaction that arises from playing together are of primary importance.

Paabel on mõttesähvatus, katse läheneda pärimusmuusikale vabameelselt, ammutades inspiratsiooni bändisisesest sünergiast. Paabli repertuaar koosneb omavahel põimitud vanadest pillilugudest, regilauludest ning omaloomingust. Eesmärk on teha muusikat, mida ansambli liikmed ise kuulaksid ja naudiksid — koos musitseerimise rõõm ja rahulolu on nende jaoks esmatähtsad. Koos on mängitud Eestis, Soomes, Leedus, Ungaris ja USAs. 2009. aasta märtsis andis Paabel välja esimese plaadi, mis kätkeb endas kahe aasta tööd, rõõmu ja naudingut.
