“This is not someone raised in front of a television blaring Gilligan's Island re-runs - she grew up on a commune in the mountains of Virginia, and it shows in her refreshing jazz/folk originals.” (- Sing Out!). Ontario-born songwriter Devon Sproule honed her chops busking on the street in Charlottesville, Virginia, near Twin Oaks Community, the intentional community where she was raised. After moving between private, public and home schooling, she eventually left high school, recorded her first record, and began touring nationally - all before the age of eighteen. Her most recent record, “Don’t Hurry for Heaven”, was a hit in the UK and Europe and received four stars in both Mojo & Uncut Magazines. The record was produced by Sproule’s husband, songwriter & guitarist Paul Curreri and featured an appearance by the legendary songwriter (and adopted, draft-resisting Canadian) Jesse Winchester. Back in North America, Paste Magazine called “Don’t Hurry for Heaven” “Easily the most joyous album we’ve heard this year.”
