Another musical wolf from Estonia! This time, made of iron.

The story: On 24th February 1999 (the Estonian Independence Day) three men sat down in a basement and - surprisingly - formed a great band. One of them could play some guitar, another one had a drum set, and the third one came up with a sufficiently ancient-sounding name that would
be just right for a heavy metal band - Metsatöll (an Estonian euphemism for wolf). After building up a loyal fanbase in their home country, Metsatöll toured extensively all over Europe and secured a record deal with Spinefarm/Univeral just in time for the release of their fourth offering "Äio" (2010). All music and lyrics on the album were conceived in the isolation of a small farmstead in Hargla, South Estonia. This provided the songs with a breath that, according to the guys themselves,
cannot be achieved in a big city.

1999. aasta 24. veebruaril said Tallinna äärelinnas Pääsküla raba servas laulja-kitarristi Markuse keldris kokku kolm meest, kellest üks oskas natuke kitarri tinistada, teine tundis kedagi, kes päriselt ka trumme mängis ning kolmandal kibeles keelel ühele hevibändile igati sobilik ürgse kõlaga nimi – Metsatöll. „Metsatöll“ on iidne eesti murdesõna, mis tähendab hunti. 2010. a märtsis ilmus Metsatöllu neljas album Äio, mis on esimene esimene rahvusvahelise muusikakompanii Universal Music sõsarfirma Spine-Farm Recordsi alt. Kogu albumi muusika ja sõnad leidsid oma näo Lõuna-Eestis Hargla külas asuva talu eraldatuses. See andis loomingule hingamise, mille sarnast meeste endi sõnul ei ole kuidagi võimalik saavutada suures linnas. Albimilt on väljas singel “Vaid Vaprust”, mille video on pikitud sugemetega Jüri Arraku animafilmist “Suur Tõll”.
