Honey Power

Where: Von Krahl Bar
When: 24.03.2011
Time: 23:45

Honey Poweri asutasid 2005.a. suvel Tartus Martin Kikas (laul, kitarr) ja Madis Aesma (trummid). Neljaliikmelise bändina salvestatud esimesed prooviruumi-demod pälvisid internetis palju tähelepanu ja juba 2006. aastal ilmus Eesti olulisima indie-leibeli Seksound alt nende debüütalbum "Macrosilly". Plaat segas The Wedding Presenti, Pavementi ja The Pixies'e juurtega 1990-date indie-rocki, brit- ja süntpoppi ning Kikase ainulaadset laulumaneeri. Täna kuuluvad omanäolisse indie-rock-bändi lisaks Kikasele Inga Nõlvak (bass), Martin Järvekülg (kitarr) ja Madis Paalo (trummid). 2008. aastal avaldas Seksound digisingli retrohõngulisest palast "80s Party". Lisaks kontserttegevusele on bänd debüütplaadi ilmumise järel aastaid prooviruumis ja stuudios täiuslikuma, värske ja omanäolise kõlapildi poole püüeldes tööd teinud. Selle tulemusena ilmub 2011. aastal Honey Poweri kauaoodatud teine album, millelt raadiosse jõudnud lugu "Get Country" näitab bändi küpsema ja veenvamana kui kunagi varem.

Honey Power was conceived in the summer of 2005 in Tartu. Thanks to quick-spreading internet demos it didn't take long for the best Estonian indie label, Seksound, to call the band and make an intriguing proposal to record their first CD. In late 2006 Honey Power released their debut album called "Macrosilly". The single "Travelling Nonstop" was picked by Raadio 2 for their Demo of the Week section. Stylistically, it is rather tricky to classify Honey Power, but fans of Pavement, The Wedding Present, lo-fi-approach to brit-pop and synth-pop should find enough to like here. Led by now acknowledged producer/sound engineer Martin Kikas, the band has been continuously working on new material as well as performing since the successful debut. With some changed members, Honey Power’s still distinctive sound has now evolved into more refined yet straightforward indie rock. A long-awaited second album will be released in 2011.
