Hello, my name is Vaiko Eplik, I’m 27 years old and I record at home. For last four years I’ve recorded an album every year, I make these albums in my parent’s living-room where my studio Ateljeee! Is set up. I play all instruments myself and these albums are rather good. The first two released, are now sold out, both of them also won several Estonian Music Awards and we’re Albums Of The Year (2006,2007) voted by estonian critics. The third also did well it was second. All my albums have also led the estonian sales charts for months, since we’re a very small market it doesn’t take too many copies to achieve that. The trouble with working the way I do is that it’s almost impossible to reproduce my music onstage, I’d need an orchestra of clones to do that and in a small market I couldn’t afford clones. Besides it would get boring playing the same songs with the same people 8to the same crowd) every night. So the obvious solution is Eliit, selection of our country’s finest musicians improvising pop music on stage. Most of the members also record at home and face similar problems to mine. We have no rehearsals, our set-up is different every time, line up also changes, basically we’ve removed the boring things about being in a band. We just show up and play, sometimes it works sometimes not but that’s the same with other bands aswell, only they have so much more trouble with their costumes and arguing over the setlist and so on. Tere, mina olen Vaiko Eplik, ma olen 27 aastat vana ja ma olen koduslindistaja. Viimasel neljal aastal olen igal kevadel plaadi välja andnud, neid plaate valmistan ma oma vanemate elutoas, stuudios Ateljeee! Mängin stuudios kõiki pille ise ja ega neil albumitel viga pole. Kaks esimest läksid nagu soojad saiad ja tõid mulle mitmeid auhindu sealhulgas ka kaks Areeni Aasta Albumit (2006,2007), kolmandalgi läks kenasti. Kõik mu plaadi on eesti plaadimüügitabeli tibus olnud kuude kaupa, arvestades meie turu väiksust pole see muidugi kuigi keeruline. Minu meetodi suur puudus on see et samu helisid kontserdil taasluua on peaaegu võimatu, mul läheks selleks tarvis korralikku kloonitud Vaikode orkestrit mille loomine läheks kole kulukaks. Pealegi oleks ühtede ja samade inimestega, ühtesid ja samu lugusid mängida üsna igav. Ilmselge lahendus on Eliit, valik parimaid eesti muusikuid ühel laval popmuusikat loomas/improviseerimas. Enamik liikmeid lindistavad samuti kodus ja ka neil on oma muusikat laval raske taasesitada. Me ei tee proovi, koosseis muutub, kasutame iga kord erinevaid instrumente, põhimõtteliselt oleme eemaldanud kõik igavad asjad bänditegemise juures. Me lihtsalt tuleme kohale ja mängime, vahel asi töötab, vahel veab viltu aga ega päris bändidel on samamoodi, ainult et me ei pea kostüüme kandma ja lugude valiku üle kraaklema.
