Svjata Vatra (holy fire) is an Estonian-Ukrainian folkband. The musicians themselves call their style „firefolk“. The band’s composition is unique: the temperamental trombone together with the Estonian bagpipes produce amazing sound patterns. Duduk’s deep southern tones bring in more distant melodies and the dialogue with the northern horn sweeps away even the last shadows of cultural barriers. The melancholy accordion balances and ties the wind and percussion instruments together. This results in fiery non-Nordic masculine energy that cannot but impress everyone. Svjata Vatra is like a sizzling campfire, giving light and warmth yet burning no one. In 2008 Svjata Vatra had a concerts in France, Russian Federation, Ukraine, Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Germany and lot of gigs in Estonia.

Svjata Vatra "Kalyna" 2008
… They easily blend traditional sounds with jazz, Celtic and even some light brass sounds fill the room. On this new album they sound really relaxed and have a happy kind of folk(rock) that is very easy going. Some beautiful bagpipe pieces like in „Song of sunrise“ where they blend really beautifully with the trombone. …

Svjata Vatra (Püha Tuli) on eesti-ukraina folkansambel. Svjata Vatra on väga hea näide tõeliselt õnnestunud integratsioonist. Ansambli muusikast sündinud uus kvaliteet on omamoodi pioneeriks kaasaegses rahvamuusikas, kus säilitades vana ja ühendades erinevaid kultuure luuakse muusikaline sild kaasaega ja tänaste inimesteni.
